The scalloped edge is structural, not decorative in the usual sense. It's cut into the lower apron and shelf edge as part of the piece's shape, which means it doesn't chip or peel the way applied moulding does. Indiana pieces are recognisable by this detail. At 117 cm wide, the top is the right size for a standard 3-seater sofa setup, with enough surface for a tray, a glass, and something to read. The lower shelf at 56 cm depth takes a large coffee table book or a decent stack of magazines. Acacia grain is wide-interlocked and takes a warm walnut tone naturally.
