Smart Saving Tip

Run appliances at off-peak hours
Electricity tariffs are often cheaper during off-peak times such as late nights or early mornings. Running washing machines, dishwashers, or other heavy appliances during these hours can cut down your monthly electricity bills without changing your lifestyle much.
Use eco-mode
Many modern appliances like washing machines, air conditioners, and microwaves come with an eco or inverter mode. These modes optimize performance and reduce unnecessary power consumption, making your appliance more cost-efficient in the long run.
Full loads are efficient
Running a washing machine or dishwasher only when fully loaded reduces the number of cycles per week. This saves both electricity and water, while also lowering wear and tear on the appliance.
Pressure cooker saves fuel
Cooking with a pressure cooker cuts cooking time by up to 70%. This means less gas or electricity is used compared to cooking in open pots. It also preserves nutrients and flavors better.
Use lids on pans
When you cover pans and pots with lids, heat stays trapped inside. This reduces cooking time significantly and prevents excess fuel or electricity usage while cooking.
Maintain filters
Air conditioners, refrigerators, and water purifiers rely on filters. Dirty filters force appliances to work harder, consuming more energy. Cleaning or replacing filters regularly keeps efficiency high and extends appliance life.
Switch to LED
LED bulbs consume up to 80% less electricity than incandescent bulbs and last 5–10 times longer. Replacing traditional bulbs in kitchens and living rooms brings instant and noticeable energy savings.
Unplug chargers
Chargers and idle appliances continue to draw power even when not in use. Unplugging them, or using a power strip with an on/off switch, prevents this “phantom load” and saves small but consistent amounts of electricity.
Use induction where possible
Induction cooktops are faster and more efficient than gas or electric coil stoves. They transfer heat directly to the cookware, reducing wasted energy and speeding up meal prep.
Opt for energy-labeled products
Before buying new appliances, look for energy labels such as BEE Star ratings or Energy Star certifications. Higher-rated models may cost more upfront, but they consume much less power across their lifetime.
