What varies between manufacturers is the frame material and the cane quality. This version uses solid acacia, which is considerably denser than the rubberwood or plantation teak typically used on replica Chandigarh chairs at lower price points. The joints at the sharp angles hold without loosening because acacia's hardness resists compression at the fastener points.

The cane back panel is hand-woven. The weave varies slightly in tension because it's done by hand. Machine-pressed cane is perfectly uniform and loses its surface texture within two to three years as the face fibres abrade.
